We just wrapped up the concrete slab portion of this backyard home gym build, and honestly, this is one of those jobs where the foundation really does set the tone for everything that comes after. No shortcuts here - the prep work, the forming, and the finish all had to be right before we could move on.
A home gym setup in the backyard is only as good as what it's sitting on. Uneven ground, poor drainage, or a slab that wasn't properly scored? Those problems show up fast once equipment starts living on it. That's why we treat the concrete work as a serious part of the overall project, not just a box to check.
The slab came out clean - evenly scored panels, a smooth broom finish, and tight edges all the way around. It fits the space well and gives this homeowner a real, functional surface to build their gym on. Next up for us is the planting and irrigation, which is the part that ties the whole outdoor space together visually.
That's kind of how we think about every backyard we work on. The hardscape gives it structure. The landscaping gives it life. When both are done well, the space actually gets used - and that's the whole point.
We do a lot of this type of work - concrete slabs, patios, walkways, and the surrounding landscape that makes those hardscape elements feel intentional. If you've been sitting on a backyard project, now is a good time to get it moving.
