Some backyards just need a full reset. Not a patch here and a fix there - a real, ground-up overhaul that actually makes sense long-term. That's exactly what we tackled with this one.
We started with new irrigation, which is always the right place to begin. Get the water delivery right first, and everything else has a fighting chance. From there, we laid fresh Marathon sod - one of the best choices for a clean, durable lawn that holds up well and looks sharp once it gets established. The contrast between that lush green turf and the surrounding gravel is exactly the kind of visual separation that makes a yard feel intentional.
The gravel areas are doing a lot of work here beyond just looking good. Paired with weed fabric underneath, they keep maintenance low and weeds from creeping back in over time. That combination is something we recommend often - it's a simple layer of protection that pays off for years. And the flagstone border ties everything together, giving the lawn a defined edge that keeps the gravel and grass from bleeding into each other.
What we end up with is a yard that's genuinely easier to take care of. Less watering guesswork, less weeding, and a layout that actually makes sense for how people use their outdoor space. Every element we added has a job to do.
This kind of full-scope approach - irrigation, sod, ground cover, and hardscape borders all working together - is what separates a quick fix from something that actually lasts. If your backyard has been on the to-do list for a while, this is a good example of what's possible when you address everything at once.
